Concerns

  • Censorship in China and contributing to the incarceration of people in China.

“You mean the one that has been censoring since the ’90s and recently caused a number of journalists to go to prison?’’ Brin asked in amazement.

Yahoo has been cited in three cases where Chinese journalists received jail time for their reporting. Each case included evidence provided by Yahoo when compelled by Chinese authorities to do so.

Is there an example of a company providing search in China without censorship? Without contributing to incarceration of people in China? Does it matter?
